Project Summary

The Briefing and Display System in a Pentagon Watch Floor provides RGB/computer and video sources to a video wall display.  The wall consists of eight 50-inch diagonal 16:9 cube displays, arranged in a four-wide by two-high configuration for optimal viewing. Three racks house most of the audio/video equipment in a separate equipment room. A shorter equipment rack housing the Video Information Display (VID) system computer/keyboard/mouse, VCR, and DVD player is located in the room next to the front wall. All displays are controllable via a single touchpanel. There are two RGB/graphic video quad processors and one composite video processor for this system.

Composite audio/video (A/V) sources for the system include an S-VHS VCR, DVD, and four customer furnished cable television (CATV) tuners. There are thirty-two (32) computer interfaces for this system. Each interface is connected to the matrix switcher for routing and display of computer/RGB video. Computers in the system are rack mounted and are all controllable via a KVM switch in the control room.  All RGB/computer sources can be selected/routed for display and audio playback. Routing and source functions of this system are user-controllable by a touch screen control panel that can be connected and operated at a main workstation.

Playback audio is only available in this room via a multi-channel infrared (IR) headset and receiver system. Since there are no playback speakers in this room, users must select audio sources using a headset and IR belt-pack receiver. This room also has fiber feeds to facilitate send and receive sessions using the VID system.
