Chantilly, VA, September 28, 2007 -- Audio Video Systems, Inc. (AVS), a leading provider of custom audiovisual (A/V) design-build and systems integration services for government and commercial organizations, today announced the formation of a board of directors that will exercise control and management over the company. The board will oversee future decisions on finances, company structure and future expansion, mergers and acquisitions, internal policies, employee training and apprentice programs, and company management.
“We believe forming the board is a necessary step to better administer the continued growth that the company has experienced over the last few years,” says Peter Barthelson, president of AVS. “This is a great time to solidify the company’s strategy, vision and goals for the future. The board will help us accomplish these objectives.”
The board will also help oversee and manage the company’s new projects and programs, such as investing in new technologies, developing new products, building a new corporate headquarters, and launching a new marketing campaign.
AVS plans to improve the technology in some of its proprietary products, such as the Isolation Module for secure video teleconferencing and its recently launched ReadyView Systems product line. The systems are easy-to-maintain, standardized and pre-engineered audiovisual systems at a fixed price, and are ideal for small to medium meeting rooms, classrooms and similar facilities.
“I look forward to working with the board on some of the exciting new programs we are instituting,” says Matt Komos, chief operating officer for AVS. “The board will also help protect the company’s stakeholders, who are the employees themselves.”
The first member of the board will be AVS’ Chief Technology Officer, David Raden. “I will bring a technical perspective to the board, based on industry trends, financial growth goals and expansion into emerging markets,” says Raden. “Working with AVS management and the rest of the board to help develop financial and business strategies for the future will be exciting, as there is a tremendous opportunity for growth in this industry.”
Raden has recently decided to leave AVS and start his own company, where he will be pursuing various interests. In addition to being on the board, he will continue to work as a consultant for AVS on a part-time basis. Raden, who has been with AVS for more than 12 years, has played a critical role in overseeing AVS’ resources, by providing technical applications assistance to the company’s sales, engineering, integration and installation departments.
With more than 25 years of industry experience in systems design, engineering and integration, Raden has facilitated the deployment of custom solutions for numerous federal, civilian, defense, and intelligence agencies as well as commercial customers. Some of his recognized accomplishments with AVS include project engineering support for the Naval Command Center (NCC) -- pre- and post-9/11 -- and the Air Force Operations Group (AFOG), both as part of the Pentagon Renovation Program. He also provided command center support for the Office of the President of the United States and design and implementation support for a corporate conference center and auditorium systems for Booz Allen Hamilton.
“The opportunity to continue working with AVS, while also being able to pursue my own interests, is an ideal situation for me,” says Raden. “It has been an honor and a privilege to have worked with so many wonderful people at AVS over the last 12 years. I look forward to continuing those relationships as a consultant and a Board member.”
The remaining members of the board will be chosen and announced in the coming weeks, and the Board will hold its first meeting before the end of 2007.
Specializing in government installations, AVS’ core competency and major focus lies in designing, installing and maintaining integrated audio, video and control facilities for a wide variety of environments including classrooms, command centers, control centers, conference rooms, SCIFs, training facilities, auditoriums and more.
