System Engineer (Mechanical)

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:

The position of System Engineer (mechanical) is responsible for engineering facility and infrastructure to a highly detailed level to support the installation of audiovisual systems.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Provide detailed product research, design and engineering required to produce facility documentation for installation of audiovisual systems.
  • Produce design documentation for use in implementing system installations and review for functionality and accuracy, with an in-depth focus on facility impact and ergonomics. Typical documentation may include Floor and ceiling plans, section and elevation details, projection geometry details, lighting system designs and custom parts.
  • Assist the sales and proposal departments in developing proposals and estimates for clients. The typical documents developed in this process include floor plans, 2D graphics, 3D graphics and 3D animations.
  • Participate in a design review processes to ensure the quality and consistency of engineering work.
  • Attend client meetings during various phases of the project. Responsibilities for these meetings may include:
    o Gathering customer requirements
    o Presenting facility impact assessments to clients / contractors
    o Presenting design options to clients
  • Participate in team based design projects
  • Design custom parts to meet specific application needs. hese designs will be to a highly detailed level required for production.
  • Participate in the implementation of architectural drawing standards to ensure conformity to construction / architectural industry standards

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Four-year technical degree, in the Mechanical or Architectural field and one of the following, or at least two of the following:
    o 2-5 years of architectural experience
    o 2-5 years of mechanical design experience
    o 2-5 years of broad technical experience
    o 2-5 years of general engineering experience
  • Intermediate experience with AutoCAD, Microsoft office suite, 3D Studio Max, Photoshop
  • Familiarity with other CAD programs such as Visio and Micro Station is desirable
