Careers at AVS, Inc.

Audiovisual Integration Apprenticeship Program

Brief Description of Position

The AVS Apprentice Program is a 90 day process designed to bring talent into AVS and to train selected candidates who upon successful completion, will become AV Technicians. An AV Technician will work with and take direction from an Advanced AV Technician, and later develop into a Advanced AV Technician with capacity to work unsupervised to achieve professional results.

AVS is looking for candidates with little to no experience who are interested in learning about the audiovisual industry. An AV Technician apprentice will learn the basics of the audiovisual (AV) industry with a goal of becoming a licensed Certified Technology Specialist (CTS). An apprentice will learn about the basics of AV connections/terminations; how to read mechanical and CAD drawings; structural mounting and soldering; pre-installation project preparation; and OSHA job safety guidelines and ADA compliances. The apprentice will also learn beginning AV installation and engineering skills. The program incorporates both classroom and field training and is administered by a certified CTS – I Instructor.

AVS’ apprentice program is a three month paid program, including benefits. It is unique in that it is the only paid classroom-based apprentice program in the industry. A program of this caliber would normally cost between twenty and forty thousand dollars at a technical college.

Tests and certifications are based upon industry standards as determined by InfoComm International, the largest trade organization in the AV industry, and the industry leader in developing standards and standards practices.
