History of Audio Video Systems

Audio Video Systems, Inc. (AVS), was established in 1992 by Peter Barthelson to specialize in audiovisual systems, engineering and Integration. The company is a privately held corporation with small business status, and has grown from a handful of people to more than 100 people and a 72,000 square foot facility located in the Dulles corridor in western Fairfax County, Virginia.

Timeline

1992

Audio Video Systems, Inc. (AVS) founded by Peter Barthelson in January.

1999

AVS develops and begins selling their new product, the AVSIM-366, a dial isolation module that provides a secure method for dialing from classified data systems using a RS-366 interface.

2000

AVS moves from a small office complex to occupy its current facility of twelve thousand square feet of office, integration and warehouse space in Chantilly, VA.

2004

AVS develops and begins selling their next generation of dial isolation modules, the AVSIM-530, which provides an integrated secure dialing isolation module along with a secure/non-secure data switch for classified ISDN based video teleconferencing (VTC) applications.

2006

AVS purchases Corporate Presentation Systems (CPS), another systems integration company.  AVS expands their operations to include CPS clients and expands its current space to 20,000 square feet.

AVS purchases HomeIT, a home AV and security company.

AVS achieves highest status under the audiovisual (AV) industry's prestigious Certified AV Solutions Provider (AVSP) Program. The Diamond Level designation certifies that more than 50 percent of AVS' employees have completed an InfoComm International® (InfoComm) Certified Technology Specialist (CTS) credential program or other training.

2007

Peter Barthelson purchases seven acres in Chantilly, VA and begins plans to build building that will house AVS' new headquarters and facilities.

2009

Construction begins on Barthelson Plaza, a 72,000 square foot facility that will be the future home of AVS' Headquarters.

2010

AVS moves into it's new headquarters at Barthelson Plaza.
